Eiger MV 1989

Another brochure kindly loaned by James Kelly. Eiger MV are still going and known as MV Meccanica Verghera, the company is also known as Kay Engineering and they have long time been making replica Italian exotica, mostly MV Augustas but also the odd Gilera four.

Unusual for a small Italian manufacturer at the time to have a flashy brochure aimed solely at the UK market. Perhaps in the early days the UK distributors had high hopes after recent competition successes.

First group ride in six months

My local VMCC Dorset Section has been organising Covid compliant runs for a few weeks now and this was the first that I had managed to make it to. To keep things in line with guidance everyone meets up outside at a set location and then rides off in groups of six with a group leader choosing the route to the pre-agreed end point. I rode my Velo along and joined the slower group led by the rather lovely MV Disco Volante below. For group runs I personally prefer to amble around and enjoy the countryside rather than race so this suited me perfectly.

So good to get out and ride a classic bike with other like mided folks after such a long break...

Twin clocks on the Rudge. The one on the left is a 'passive'
manually controlled rev calculator revs in any given gear
for particular speeds.

The Grom Motorcycle Museum, Vransko, Slovenia part II

Apologies for the poor photography here but I'd never seen one
of these before so thought it was worth including. An American
Salsbury Autoscooter.

A mighty beast. Polish Sokol v twin. This is one
of the collection's regular riders. Normally with
a sidecar it was detached at the time of visit
and undergoing some attention.

Weird and wonderful French built Majestic from the late
twenties undergoing restoration.

1938 Zundapp DB200.

Slovenian pride is represented at the museum by a number of
Tomos machines. Some road but also a collection of 50cc
racers. This is a Colibri VS50 from 1957.

Tomos Colibri T12 from 1967.

1929 NSU 201R in the background. Typical fine unrestored
condition of much of the machinery in the collection.

I love this bike and it's not just personal vanity over the name.
It's rare, it's unusual, it's red and the condition is perfect.
250cc Miller made in Balsano, Italy.
