Canterbury Belle Amphibious Sidecar

Wonder if there are any survivors or if more than one was ever built? Looks like fun, the weight would be sure to keep the sidecar planted down without need for ballast!

There's a great clip of it in action at: http://www.britishpathe.com/video/sidecar-boat

  1. Five were built. The motorcycle from one was sold at a Bonham's auction. https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/18553/lot/232/

  3. I have an original brochure for the Canterbury Belle - would love to find plans for the boat.

    1. It would be a big project but I imagine one could make a decent replica of the boat from pictures and brochures and scaling it to the bikes in the images. What a great toy it would make!

  4. Hi, I know of somebody in Germany who actually made a replica. And a good one too. Took pictures for an article in German Motorrad Gespanne mag due to appear in December this year.

    1. Thanks for the intel. I'll try to remember to have a look for it when it comes out in a couple of months.
