It was all good fun before those health and safety people got involved. Here's a 1920s attempt at self harm as public entertainment. These were the days before television you see.
Seriously, it looks fun but decidedly high risk. I can say nothing to add to the image. The bike is a flat tanker, mid twenties and for the rest you can make up your own story.
