Grandad's Treader
Thanks to James Kelly for this image of his grandfather's cycle. Not a great photo of course but the details are evocative down to the ubiquitous saddle bag and style of paving on the sidewalk.
no 'sidewalks' in the Uk, pavement please. I never see that done thesedays, it was standard practice when I were a lad; now the kids just throw them down, generally blocking the way. Except when I pick them up and chuck them in the road/hedge/ditch as appropriate.
Hi Ken, fair comment. Sidewalk grated with me a bit as I wrote it. I just thought that more folks overseas read the blog than in the UK so maybe pavement wouldn't be understood.
