Triumph Speed Twin
Living the post war dream. Rationing still in place but the lucky chap has managed to get his hands on a rigid Triumph Speed Twin and is off touring with it
It's chilly but his hands are bare. No way he rode like that. I'll bet he triggered the self-timer of a camera on a tripod (about the right height) and then jumped on the bike for the photo. His young lady held the bike up until he got on. The scramble created the expressions we see on their faces.
I believe you are right Sherlock! As a point aside I am often amazed by how many folks seem to have ridden without gloves back in the day and often with just brogues instead of boots. Many seem to have ridden wearing flat caps. It all leads me to believe that it was rare to top thirty mph! All the best, Richard
